Puerto Rico

Galileo Skye Chrisman Caro is a bicultural pianist, raised in both Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. His exceptional talent and unique relationship with the piano have been recognized since an early age, leading to numerous first-place awards in various competitions. These include the Glendale Piano Competition (2019), the CAPMT District IX Honors Competition (2020), the MTAC Scholarship Competition (2021), the LA International Liszt Competition (2022), and both the District IX and Statewide CAPMT Honors Competitions (2023). Beyond classical concerts and recitals, Galileo is passionate about sharing his music in diverse settings. A cherished memory is receiving a formal proclama from the mayor of his family's hometown in Rincón, Puerto Rico. This honor was in gratitude for his performances at festive holiday-evening art walks in the town square during the 2021/2022 Christmas Season. On these occasions, Galileo played pieces like Bach's E-minor Toccata, Beethoven's Tempest Sonata, and the Schumann/Liszt Widmung. Additionally, he led the community in singing traditional Puerto Rican Villancicos Navideños and Christmas carols, creating unforgettable moments. Galileo aspires to continue sharing his growing repertoire, now including favorites from Frédéric Chopin, with audiences from various backgrounds. Currently, as a sophomore music major at the Los Angeles High School for the Performing Arts, Galileo continues his piano studies under the guidance of Ivana Grubelic Malo, with whom he has been studying since 2014. In a recent notable achievement, Galileo tied for the 2nd Prize at the 2023 Nashville International Chopin Piano Competition, further exemplifying his remarkable skill and dedication as a pianist.
