Kenneth Chen is a full scholarship student at The Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists in Toronto, Canada.
Kenneth's piano journey began at the age of 5, captivating audiences and judges alike with his thoughtful and musical interpretations. Since he was nine, he has been studying under the guidance of Dr. Michael Berkovsky. Additionally, Kenneth has had the privilege of participating in master classes with esteemed professors such as Hong-Kuan Chen, Asaf Zohar, Katarzyna Popova-Zydron, Alexander Korsantia, and Ilya Itin.
Throughout his young career, Kenneth has amassed an impressive array of accolades in Youth Music Festivals and Competitions. His victories include the 1st Prize in the 2022 Spotlight International Piano Competition, Best of the Classes at OFMA 2021, 1st Prize in the 2020 Liszt Center International Piano Competition in Spain, 1st Prize in the 2020 Piano League International Competition, the Gold Award in the WPTA - Finland International Piano Competition 2022, and the 2nd Prize in the 2020 Young Euregio Piano Award International Competition in Germany.
In June 2022, Kenneth made his orchestral debut with the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor in Van Cliburn Hall, Texas.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Kenneth has excelled in sports as well. He is a former member of the Canadian Badminton Junior National Team and has won a silver and a bronze medal for Canada at the Junior Pan Am Badminton Championship in Brazil.
A recent highlight in Kenneth's musical journey was his success at the 2023 Nashville International Chopin Piano Competition, where he won the 2nd Prize (tied) and the Best Nocturne Prize, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to the piano.
